I'm the director of Rochester Roots which is committed to the creation of urban school and community garden-based educational programs for youth and adults. These programs focus on growing, preparing and enjoying high quality, safe, affordable healthy food. This organization is creating a locally sustainable food system to help low-income people in Rochester obtain nutritious, locally grown food. The School-Community Garden project transforms underutilized schoolyards into urban gardens, and the produce is harvested and distributed to students and community members who worked to grow that food.

Congratulations...I would love to visit sometime. I also have too many strawberry plants and runners. Does the project or anyone you know need any?

Jan,
I ran a community gardens program in Trenton, NJ with Isles for almost 9 years. We were presented with the Harry Chapin Award along the way. If you need any assistance, let me know.
